About

Nicole was born in Buffalo, NY and attended the Conservatory of Dance at SUNY Purchase College under the direction of Nelly van Bommel, graduating Magna Cume Laude with a BFA and dance performance concentration and composition and minor in biology. While at purchase she had fostered a deep love for collaboration creation and personal expression through movement. She was mentored by Rosalind Newman, Sue Bernhard, and Doug Varone in compositional studies. She had gratefully received instruction from Nelly van Bommel, Stephanie Tooman, Dylan Crossman, Jean Freebury, Shannon Gillen, Taryn Kaschock Russel, Ted Kivitt, Bettijane Sills, Michelle Thompson Ulerich, Wallie Wolfgruber, Larry Clark, and Gabrielle Lamb.

She has studied at London Contemporary Dance School/The Place, collaborating with Hannes Langolf and members of Punchdrunk International, and with members of the Hofesh Schecter Company. In addition, she has trained at San Francisco Conservatory of Dance, The School at the American Dance Festival, Arts Umbrella - Vancouver, and Earl Mosley’s Institute of the Arts.

After graduating, she pursued intensive study in Gaga in Tel Aviv alongside Batsheva Dance Company and Ohad Naharin, taking daily classes with the company for several months as well as Gaga people classes.

As a dancer she has had the opportunity to perform works by American Modern Opera Company, Ohad Naharin, Saar and Lee Harari, Doug Varone, Alex Ketley, Alessio Silvestrin, Hannes Langolf, Sarah Dowling, Geir Hytten, Nicole VonArx, Earl Mosely, Kevin Wynn, Sue Bernhard, Alexandra Beller, as well as countless student works by friends from SUNY Purchase.

She has created choreography for  Scapino Ballet Rotterdam, BalletX, Louisville Ballet School,  Joffrey Ballet School, Canadian Contemporary Dance Theater.

As well, she's created choreography for her own project based ensemble which has been performed in various festivals in the USA and Europe including Dance Days Chania in Crete,  Autunno Danza in Sardegna, Abundance Festival in Sweden, and A Musical Feast in Buffalo, NY.

She was awarded 1st prize for performers in Copenhagen International Competition for Choreographers for her role in her work “Arba”. She also had received 1st prize in chorography for “Arba” at Hannover International Competition for Choreographers. She has also been awarded the Technos International Prize for her accomplishments in cultural exchange through art.

Nicole lives in Louisville presently, working with Louisville Ballet School.
